converted German World War I mauser. numbers of rifles were converted to 16 ga shotguns in the 1920's they were ok for the low powered shells of the day, but not considered safe today because one locking lug was removed, and the other was considerably ground down.

Like this? German Mauser 98 in 16 ga.,2+1, 18 1/4" barrel, bead site, excellent bore, metal nicely browned, nitro proofed. I am not an expert on this, but understand this to be a Mauser 98 built into a shotgun after WWI when as a result of the Armistice, Germany was not allowed to build military caliber weapons, and having many 98 actions on hand, built these for export. Stamped Germany on receiver, bolt#'s match, serial # 10xx,but not import marked. Walnut finger groove stock. Recoil pad added in past. Lightweight and functions well. Only one I have ever seen, how many have you seen?C&R and very collectable. Great addition to any collection. Buy now for $250.00 http://www.gunbroker.com/auction/Vie...?Item=16710725

Neat. Didnt know they made the Mauser into a shotgun. PapaG is right. You'd have to remove a lot of steel to get a 16 gauge to fit in a Mauser. I'd say it was a wall hanger only. |

| mauser shotgun 12 ga bolt action
I have inherited a mauser shotgun that is a 12 ga bolt action, 2 shot. BOTH locking lugs are there and not ground down. BBl stamped nitro. inside of bbl is like a mirror. The only markings on it are "Germany" and a four digit ser no stamped on the left front of the receiver. What do I have - Dos it have any value? |

It's a geha - what is geha? Why are these deemed unsafe? I'm sure it will kick like a mule as light as it is. Anyway, it will make a hell-of-a conversation piece. Anyone know where there is any literature on these? Jim |
