i dont know about the swede's yall have but mine just amazes me everytime i shoot it! i cant believe how accurate the thing shoots! it was made in 1916 and with open sights it consistantly out shoots EVERY weapon i have! it over shadows my garand, spanks all my carbines, and just flat out embarrasses my mosins! i just cant believe that nearly 100 years ago people had the knowledge to fabricate something thats quality and function would rival and in some cases surpass rifles made today! have yall had similar results with yours?

I've been occasionally tempted by this one on Gunsamerica. ![]() http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976443886.htm I know it's heresy, but since it's done, and since I actually prefer the curved grip and bent bolt, and my sight requires a scope for distance shots, would it be a bad deal?

idunno?...i have never had any luck with a rifle that has had the barrel cut down . for that price you could get a real sharp un cut swede then put your own stock on it. im leary of buying any guns that have been modified by someone else. but it is a nice lookin piece!

I'm almost on base with Whirlwind. Eccept for my Springfield Remington 1903A3s, the Swede puts the rest to shame. It is a joy to shoot them...fer sure. I replaced the front sight blades on mine (the ones from Brownell's) and got them shooting dead on at 75 yard (remember 75 yard is about as far out as my tired old eyes can go with iron sights). In short the Swedes (more so the M96 and their shorter brother) are usually super accurate shooters. And, since they were not used in conflict most are still in near excellent to excellent condition. But, I have heard of a few lemons being squeezed so inpsect well any you buy.

Indeed I did see a few lower priced Swedes on Gunsamerica. I suppose if the scope were higher up, it would be a better deal, but you're right, I'd have a better buy in an unmutilated Swede.
