| Super Moderator ![]() | The Cold Steel of Persia
At last weekend's gun show, I had the opportunity to buy FN sword bayonets for 98 Mausers. I've been looking for the longest bayonet possible, and had settled on the Persian offered at FAC, but they were backordered and I had no idea how long it would take them to get them in. Well something kept stopping me from picking up the FN bayonet, and today I was thankful I had not, because my Persian Mauser bayo finally arrived in beautiful condition. With this bayonet, my Czech M98/22 is now as tall as GunGeek. Some day I'll have to get a full length Brown Bess to compare. ![]() ![]() The latter pic begs to be doctored with an annoying cartoon character on the blade.

That's pretty cool! I'm still anxiously awaiting the arrival of my 98/22, also an original 98/22 bayonet. Those aren't nearly as long, though. |

holy poo BRG, that thing is long (she said). Anyway, I just got one and it cleaned up pretty well. I'm wondering if the 98/22's original color has that greenish tinge & not like some other Mausers like the K98 (looks like yours does too) ? What wood is it & what color is historically accurate ? Also, where can I get the right sling ? |

This clearly shows why they outlawed the bayo lugs on the AWB. Too many drive-by bayonetings!! Hehehe.

or under the influence of another slightly illicit substance that mauser's now a good dangerous game rifle. If a bear charges you you can give him a persian reception.

^^^ Good one Logansdad. But technically jousting would require a lance, and a rifle with a bayonet attached is more of a Glaive/ or a halberd, infantry man's polarm.
