Question 8mm German Mauser and hog hunting?

I was just wondering if it is possible to use my old mauser, which is in good shooting condition, to potentially be used as my primary hunting rifle for a Hog hunt I am going to this summer down in Texas. Essentially I am asking if the round will have enough stopping power to down a charging hog if the situation arose? Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yes a 8mm will bring down a pig in a heartbeat just avoid hitting the shoulders as you would need a 50cal

Rodney-same here. An 8mm is a very strong round, and will kill any hog you put in front of it. Personally I think the 8mm has never got the recognition it deserves.
I am a very big believer in 8mm.
Take it-and knock'em down :gangster:

i recommend against using american ammo, as it is loaded very weakly. load your own or buy the foreign stuff.
