Brazillian Model 1935

I just got a Brazillian Mauser Model 1925 for Christmas and I would like to know 1. what caliber is it and 2. it has never had a shot fired through it and I was wondering if I could. Any other information would be appreciated.

If it's in original condition, the Brazilian M1935 is in caliber 7X57mm Mauser. Some may have been altered to 8mm Mauser, so it's best to have a gunsmith check to be sure. If you have any 8mm ammo, try inserting the bullet point into the bore at the muzzle - if it's 7mm, it should be way too tight for the 8mm bullet to go in.
These were among the last Mauser rifles purchased from Germany, before WWII erupted. They were made at the MauserWerke Oberndorf factory.
Is it the long rifle (nearly identical to the Gewehr 98 exept for more modern sights) or the Short Rifle?

We'd love to see pics of it.

Thanks for the pix - gorgeous wood!
I put my bubba'd Spanish M43 into a Brazilian '08 stock, but it's not as pretty as that '35!

Do you think a bayonet for a k98 would work for this mauser? The attachment ooks the same but I would like a second opinion.

very nice looking wood. For your sake, i hope it is 8MM, the ammo is a lot easier to find and cheaper

It does look as though a bayonet for a K98 would work on this Mauser.

BRG3 is right.

Look at the one that is second from the top, the bayonet lug looks identical. Although you can not always tell things by how it looks, it appears that the K98 bayonet would indeed fit on your Mauser. Sure is a beautiful rifle.
