Not to burst your bubble, but seriously doubt it's unfired. But hope you are right. That packing grease is probly cosmoline. Do a search on how people have cleaned their rifles. Please don't put it in the dishwasher.

Check n see. Post up a new thread. Range report too.

Thanks for sharing

Sounds good wfarrell.
Hope the rifle turns out a great specimen and shooter.
The 1891 I have has a lot to be desired. Not in terrible shape but doesn't shoot worth a dang. Even with Norma ammo.
It has fallen back to "sell" bunch.

Dear Farrell... There are not Argentine Mausers made in belgium...
The Argentine Mauser was imported directly from the german factory since 1909... till during the 1950 ( I think) when the Military Factory (FM) of argentina, start to made it under lisence...
Then the Argentine Army, change the Mauser for the Belgian FAL...
So the FM factory, start to made the FAL under belgian lisence just till now....
The Argentine mauser was made for a few time, but in civil vertion, just like a sport carbine... The Mausers made in Argentina, are well doing too, because was made under german engineers supervition, but the original german, has more collectible value...
Well, I hope you understand me, because my english it is not so well, sorry...
From Argentina ...Junker

i hunt every year with my arg mauser. shoot great. sounds great. 7.65 knocks down the dear. i never really take a shot over 400 yards buts works fine. good luck all my good budies. the hornady rounds work a little better then norma at long distances and the around ten dollors a box cheaper. cableas will mail them out in like 3 to 5 days. shipping is reasonable.
