I'd like to have an arsenal soon, but I'm sure the base armory would look at me kinda funny with all the weapons and ammo I own.

hees my next question for everybody. on the affordability range, would you rather take a t38 or a 98/22 and BR I know what your answer is gonna be
.

yeah true, if I copuld find a deacent condition 98/22 I'd keep mainly for collectability, along with my arsena of my favorite k98s too. Another thing to, most t38s that I've seen are beat up, I own a t39/46 carbine that has seen better days, I mainly need to get the stock fixed, or get a new one then get a new reciever.

the turkish version of the Gew. 98 and czech 98/22. I've seen pwople on www.auctionarms.com use that phrasing why I don't know, but they do.

Well I would have to say that if someone offered me a Gew 98, a Czech M98/22, and a Turkish 38 in the same condition I would have to rate them in that order. In reality, though, we're likely to find less collectible ones in better condition than more collectible ones for the same price. For example, the collectibility of an M48 is pretty low, but their conditions can be excellent, much better than a Czech M98/22 that you'd probably pay the same price (150-200) for. The turks are neither collectible nor great condition, so if you're really unlucky you'll have to pay $100 for one.

I have a 1937 German K98. The iron sights on that model are bad. Everything else is great on it though. Minor pitting, very good bore and crown. The only other thing I did to it besides put a new scope on was fit it with a heavier spring.

Are you off your rocker?! I've got better results with my k98 iron sights than My Brazilian 30'06 I got about a month ago. I felt like an IDIOT trying to sight in. And one thing I do say when it comes to rifles, when your scope don't act right, then it's time to go back to basics

cant tell you how many times i have seen people at the range mad because they're scope was zero and now its not. for all we know he could have hit a pot hole on the way to the range. its sad seeing a rifle with such nice iron sites not shooting to their ability because it is not holding zero

that is very interesting gio. I love my k98 just the way it is. The only other rifle in my opinion that has awesome iron ights besides the k98 is the Tompson center White mountain carbine. That was my 1st rifle and it was a very accurate one too.

Read the K98 section.
It was hard to get decent with those sights. The most I did with them was some 50 yard targets.
I meant it to be scoped anyway. 8mm is probably my favorite round though. So in the future I'm definitly going to get a mauser with good sights.

the argentine models in my opinion have the best fit and finish of all the mausers...and I just love metal left "in the white"...perhaps because its shinier(sp?)
