I like the larger varieties, from the days when a 22" barrel was called a carbine.

I actually have a 1763 pattern "carbine" whose barrel is 30" long.

Hey, different strokes for different folks. I really like my friend's K98 Yugo rearsenal and my fiance's excellent M48, but am happiest to see them in their hands and my own Mauser in mine. Almost picked up a Columbian in 30-06 a few shows ago, but held off, and the Mauser I'm receiving from you will be serving an even more exciting purpose.

I'll say this much, that it's intended to blend the excellent qualities of the Mauser design with more affordable and reliably non-corrosive ammo.

cant turn my back on the last mauser i own

ill take the 1891 argentine over the others for the stock alone... the wood on that oldie is beautiful.. dark reddish wood and feels sturdy enough to use as a battering ram in a pinch

kind of off topic but is the romanian 8mm corrosive. i just recieved 380 rounds of it today.

Practically all military 8mm ammo is corrossive. That's probably one of the bigger disadvantages of the cheap military Mausers.

Yeah Br the only non-corrosive stuff for the 8mm chamber out their will usually cost more than the military ball ammo, at least from what I've seen. the reason I've heard the military would use corrosive ammo is because it can be stored longer and the shelf life is a lot longer than non-corrosive.

They used corrossive ammo because that's what they had. Non-corrossive ammo was a later development. The countries that were farther behind in technology made corrossive ammo longer. Notice that there's no corrossive 5.56x45mm but there is corrossive 5.45x39mm.

Think that's bad? Before smokeless powder, they had corrossive back powder.
