Disassemble issues

Bought a Czech BRNO 98/22 in excellent condition today and going through the motions of disassemble but having a problem, the gun has set for a long number of years and the magazine floor plate is almost glued(stuck) to the bottom guard. Also the forward bottom locking screw will not move due to build up. I dont want to force these apart with the chance on notching the wood or scratching the wood. My question is would there be anything i could buy( an oil or something) or do to loosen these parts? Thanks

PB Penetrating Catalyst

You might try some "Break Free" as they call it. Its real name is PB Penetrating Catalyst. Its nasty stuff in a spray can something like WD-40 only stronger. Try squirting some in a small cup then apply only to the metal. It will harm or ruin a good wood finish. When its away from the wood give it a good dose, then clean with something else. I use WD-40, Qtips toothpicks and gun oil. The oil loosens the crud in corners pretty good, then dig it out with the toothpicks. Often you will find rust under the old cosmoline. Lighter fluid works good for getting old grease off. No Smoking! Get fresh air. Once you get the barrel and action loose maybe gently tap from the inside with a stick or dowel. Go easy to not bugger up the stock as the metal comes loose. Keep the movement straight, and gentle if the wood is tight, to avoid chips along the stock edge where it meets the metal. Be sure to use screwdrivers that are sharp and square and the right size to not mess up the screws.Let me know how it goes. Heilung

Ah yea, that PB Blaster stuff really works! Only thing I could find that would free up the crankshaft bolt on my lawnmower. I highly reccomend it! You can get it at almost any autoparts store.

Penetrating oil may work. If not, try putting a hot soldering iron on the screw head. This should melt any crud that is gluing it together. Once you get it apart, soak it in solvent.
