how much are these parts worth?

Earlier this summer I picked up a 1895 chileano mauser. The stock had been "sporterized" by what must have been a five year old with a horse rasp. The barrel had been shortened and someone had attempted to drill and tap it with a hand drill. I took a gamble on it because the bolt, trigger, bolt release, magazine assembly and floorplate were in exellent condition. The bolt has minor dings and only a few tiny specks of rust, and the rest has rust but it could easily be removed with steel wool. What are these assorted parts worth? Thanks!

Well Hightek,The action is ruint as far as having any value, but is it safe to shoot ? When you say they drilled it with a hand drill do you mean they drilled it crooked ,or angled or did they wollered the holes out?
If you feel it's still safe to shoot,I would just rig a front site back on it and have junker gun that you can just throw behind the seat of a pick up ,or carry around straped to your 4 wheeler. The 7 mauser is a pretty good shell,(I never have understood why Germany went from 7mm to 8mm mausers)and you can still get hunting ammo for them....As far as selling parts. It really wouldn't be worth fooling with....I just hope that you don't have much in it

MountaineerWVa,
"I never have understood why Germany went from 7mm to 8mm mausers"

The various German firms made the MAUSER rifles chambered in their 6.5X55, 7.65X53, 7x57 as well as 8x57 and numerous other chamberings. The German K98 was chambered in 7.92X57 aka 8X57...neither the German Wehrmach or nazis ever carried a 7x57 as standard issue. The 7mm was sold to Spain and several South American countries.

Thanks Vintovki,For some reason I was thinking that Germany used 7mm in ww1,but I was thinking of the German 7mm mauser that they built for the Spanish in the Spanish American war.
The rub is that the 7mm mauser was so good that It made the 30-40 Kraig obsolete over nite. And I would say that the 8mm probally shoots no better than the Kraig.I know that the 98 has a better action than the Kraig, but why would they go to a less effecive caliber than they were already making..I may be wrong, but I'm thinking that the 7mm was nearly equal to the 30-06.

Well I said I may be wrong, and I am wrong......I looked at a ballistics chart, and the 7mm mauser isn't as fast as I always thought..It leaves the barrel pretty fast, but it slows down mighty fast...I thought that I had read somewere that the 03 Springfield was copied from the 7mm 98.
