Smile Competition with C&R military bolt actions.

I've heard of a few gun clubs having competition with military bolt action rifles. I haven't found any near where I live. (East Tennessee) Is there a website for this type of competition? Any information would be apreciated.

REMan;

Welcome! We occasionally have shoots here in which you may choose to use a military bolt action rifle. We just had one end today. Keep an eye out in the future for them!

We also have an events forum in which you may also look or post for theese types of competitions. Also check out CMP (civilian markmanship program) for shooting competitions.

Good Luck.

I have never shot in a competition, and think it might be fun, if it isn't a "real serious" event. I love to spend the day on the rifle range with 5-6 rifles and lots of handloaded ammo.

My skills with a rifle, and my rifles, may be up to the level of competition, but what the heck. If these are just "plain folks" and not a bunch of "stuffed shirts" it would be fun anyway.

What are the rules and regs for these competitions? I guess I don't know how they work. Sounds like fun though. Maybe a link to a thread?

A couple of years ago there was a gun club near Bellingham WA that had match results and photos of shoots using mostly Mausers. It looked like regular folks shooting their favorite Mausers and Enfields. I lived in Idaho then, about 6-7 hours away.
I know there was one at a range near the folks at Makarov.com, St Albans, WV.

I would think a 100 yard shoot with older bolt action mil-surp's or any for that matter, would be fun. It would need to be with mil-surp ammo and no scopes to make it real fun.

The gun club in WA was shooting at 100 and 200 yards, older military surplus rifles and most shooters were using mil surp ammo. It looked like fun.
