OK I am asking this for a friend of mine he has a K98 and want to put a 20 detchable mag on it for nothing more then the fact he wont have to take the scope off to load it. Has any one done this yet ( other then the Germans) and if so what problem did you run in to. Thanks DevildogZ28 Last edited by Devildogz28; 12-08-2006 at 11:24 AM. |

He'll still be able to load it, just not with strippers. I belive the trench mag is very easy to install, but the mags are kinda high. (Sarco had 'em last time I looked) BTW: I'm talking about repop mags, I'd imagine originals would be extremely high. Did he also notice that the Germans used these in WWI and not WWII? Snipers also lacked these "high cap" mags. There were feeding and relibility problems. They were'nt that great in the early 20th century, and I doubt they'll be much better in the 21st.

That is about what I told him. But he was looking at speed. I told him if your using a scope speed is not what you want its the relibilty of the weapon. thank for the info. |

That's absolutely right. A protruding mag on a bolt action hunting rifle is just silly. Now if he's looking for a SHTF setup that's another thing, but that doesn't sound like his goal.
