These badboys are on sale for $99 at the Big 5 stores near me. I have a Turk Mauser, but am wondering what the difference between the two are (outside of the obvious distance in manufacturing armory). I really like the Turk, it's got a really good action, and it's heavy enough to absorb a lot of kick. Are both bolts as smooth as each other, how 'bout quality of construction? I might just have to have another! |

I don't have a Turkish Mauser, but I have a Yugo M24. I think the Turkish Mauser has a longer barrel. The M24/47 is a 24" barrel. I think the Turkish is a 26" barrel. Action should be pretty close to the same. They both shoot 7.92X57mm if I'm not mistaken.

Other than the action parts not interchanging (different action lengths), they are both good solid M98 rifles. The feel will be much the same.

Went out this Sunday for a little noise making with the Turk and the Mosin. Side by side comparison, I gotta say, the Turk has the superior action. Looking to get a Yugo this week through Big 5. I guess I'll see how they compare and post an opinion... ======================= Dropped by one of the three Big 5's nearby tonight to check put the 24/47 Mauser. Nice little rifle, and as mentioned, I love the smooth action! The Manager at one of the stores said he'd honor the sale price of $99 (went off sale this Saturday, back to $199!) until I saw his latest delivery of three on Wednesday. So cheap you can't just have one! Last edited by Spikestrip; 01-23-2007 at 09:08 PM. |
