Swiss K31?

I am strongly concidering getting a Swiss K31 rifle. Anyone here own one? Any pros & cons to owning one would be appreciated. Anyone know a good source of ammo for it?

Got two superb shooters.

Only con that I know of is the availability of the 7.5X55 ammo at reasonable prices.

That's why I responded to your reloading post on another thread.....gonna do it. Yepper....fer sure.

Finding 7.5 X55 brass is difficult (unless you want to spend the money on Norma...I ain't!) so I am going to .284 brass...size them in a specifically designated 7.5X55 SWISS sizing die...and fire form them.

Pros.....too many to list. LOL

I have a walnut and a beech...

100% condition and all matching.
Got a reply from the soldier that carried the walnut.

They are awesome rifles....GP11 ammo can be had around $28/60 rds.

I buy some whenever I find it at shows...(got over 1,000 rds now)

Get everything now before the good stuff is gone!

AIM Surplus and Southern Ohio Gun both carry ammo. Like Joe, I buy some at gun shows, as I did this last weekend.

Nick, you won't be sorry. I also have two (one beech and one walnut) and I love them. I resolved the ammo issue by ordering 100 rounds of PRVI from Graf's & Son's (about $60 with shipping), and now have brass for reloading. I have heard the GP11 ammo is excellent, but it is Berdan primed. I found the PRVI quite accurate (at least with open sights and 45 year old eyes). I also just got one of the St. Marie mounts and look forward to trying out the Swiss with a scope on board (will be much better for testing my reloads). Anyway, great solid guns.

I have one in walnut. Most accurate surplus rifle I have shot. Excellent Swiss workmanship. Ammo can be found at Graf and Sons.

I have spent a few hours looking at ammo sites, and found some ammo, and some die sets, so I guess I'm outt'a reasons not to buy one.

Thanks to you all for the info.

Smile New to K31

I received my first K31 last week and must say I'm impressed right from the start. I just began taking it down for cleaning today. With the time I have available it will be a while before I get to take it to the range. The prospects look good though. As for Ammo I am going to try reloadable Wolf and see what happens.

Norma is pricey, you betcha! Best go with the Hornady for production ammo.

I own 2 of them, and a sweeter shooter, you'll go a long way to find.

BILLY. I was looking at Classic Arms.I called Ben andtalkedto him. I can order it and it will be here the next day via UPS. Clasic Arms is only about 75 miles from here.

I can probably drive down and pick it up. I may order one on the 1st. He is out of 7.5X55 ammo though.

K31's rock! I only have one now, a beater $79 deal from AIM many years ago. But, she is accurate. Probably the most accurate milsurp I have ever owned, beating my Swede's & Finn's hands down for the most part.

Brass is available now in 7.5x55 so I do not buy .284 brass and trim it down. Bought some dies too. But I only reload for her occasionally (like maybe twice)? Privi Partisan is running something like $12 a box around here. Not too bad a price...
