| M48 Yugo Mauser I have an M48 Mauser. If I attempt to load from the magazine with the front of the barrel below hoizonal, the next round slithers into the chamber and does not engage the extracter ring in the bolt. Therfore, I cannot close the bolt. Is this common to all M48? Is this the result of a weak magazine follower spring? Anybody have a cure for this. I had a 98 years ago and I do not remember this being a problem. In any other attitude, front of barrel horizonal or above, feeds just fine. Any ideas? Gaugeblock |

I am not exactly sure, but I think your follower spring could be the problem. Could you post a picture? Perhaps I am losing something in the translation?

Have you tried "stretching" the spring? Remove the spring from the rifle and gently stretch or bend it some, replace and try. Don't try to go too far at one time. This is a flat spring and you should be able to revitalize it. I did one on my 98-22, same problem you describe, and it cured it.
