| Senior Member | No Joke Mooseman. They asked me what we were shooting and I said that I was shooting a Russian M-44. They said they were from Russia and had never heard of this rifle before.

I'm wanting to build a new hog gun and have a husqvarna small ring and i was wandering if anyone could tell me if it would hold up to the new .338 federal round. I'm not sure what pressures that round produces. If anyone can help me on this issue it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

no, thats not a safe round to chamber a small ring mauser for. 6.5x55, and 7x57 are 2 good choices for the small ring.

kcr007, No, no, no. Or she is gonna blow! Adams and Barrett make some .257 Roberts, 6.5 Swede and 7mm in small ring. Question, I know the 338 would be awsome round on a pig but, why change your Swede? Especially if it is still in military configuration. If so, you might be able to trade for a 338 at a gun show.

Amen to the 6.5 Swede!! I am a big fan of this rifle,I have two of them, one in a synthetic stock with a 3x9x40 scope and another fairly original with the a similar scope, niether could be described as expensive weapons but both are fantastic shooters, they are great hunting rifles capable of punching well above thier weight range. Killer that is a very nice rifle in lovely condition!! Lefty that is also a beautifull piece of machinery you have there!!,the woodwork(beech?) looks fantastic!! I fell in love with the 6.5 Swede the moment I first fired one and have been singing thier praises since then every time the question of a reliable functional accurate and affordable hunting rifle comes up.

For the record, I hate all of you.. ![]() Because of you people, I'm selling some of current collection to purchase more Mausers.. (I don't hate any of you, but you're costing me money) I'm now on the hunt (love that rifle term) for a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser.. I have a hunch it won't be just one for very long, either.. By the way, I have two Spansh on the way to make friends with my K Kale and three K98's.. Mosinitis is fine, but Mauseritis is my newest illness.. Gun show tomorrow.. Wish me luck!!

![]() Actually, as a .243/25-06 hunter, the 6.5 has me in it's draw as both a historical rifle and a perfect rifle for deer hunting.. I WILL have one for deer season next year.

OZ, I just came back from hunt in Granger Tx. December 10-12. Nailed a 165# field dressed boar while he was on nearly a full run. Well over a 100 yard shot in open field. Awesome shot! Blood mist exited it's side as the Federal 150 grain bullet went through him knocking him off stride then tumbling over dead. Lung shot. Was able to nail the second to last piggy on last round. 80# FD. Use a custom scoped Turk 98 Mauser with 30-06 Madsen machine gun barrel on it.

| 1941 Husky
I ended up "winning" an auction on Auction Arms last week and was shipped my very nice, but #'s not matching 1941 Husky. Great shape all around, and tonight I got a chance to shoot it This is my first 100 yard group of six shots. I was pretty much just getting a feel for the trigger and I found the point of aim perfect. ![]() This is my second group of the "standard" 5 shots, actually taking my time and squeezing as needed. Granted, I'm shooting off sandbags, but it's still with military sights and it was 14 degrees F while I was doing this.. I'm pretty damned happy with this purchase!!! ![]() I was shooting factory Remington ammo.. I can only imagine what this thing would do with a scope and some nice handloads...

..this was a Husquevarna Model 1930 (manufactured in 1941) that I refined after it had been bubba-ized. It sports and original barrel shorted by one inch, and barrel step turned back about 2 inches to match the stock. It is a superb shooter, but a lil hard on brass. I get only three or four reloads from each case until I start to see head separation indications (a faintly visible ring inside case retires the case). Otherwise it's a great shooter. Dave
