Yugo Mausers?

Has anyone compared the overall quality of the Yugo Mausers with the other countries makes? If it is as good as the quality of the Yugo SKSs and AKs over the rest, then it should be of superior quality and workmanship. I'd like to get one of them, or maybe a nice Mosin. Seen a sXs test of the Mosin & Mauser with the Mosin winning the speed & accuracy parts of the test.

Haven't compared them to any other Mauser's, but after buying my first Yugo 24/47, it took me all of about a month before I ordered the second one. Me like.

I have a Yugo 24/47 and Czech VZ 24. In the scale of 10 for overall quality and craftmanship, Yugo is 5, Czech is 10. They are not bad though, especially for the price. Yugos are solid and mine is accurate even. Just not as smooth as the Czechs.
Between a Mosin and a Mauser (Russian and Yugo) I'd go with the Mauser first if money is an issue. More so if you are thinking of scoping one or rebarreling in the future. Or if you have the tendency to use the safety a lot.

The apparent quality varies a lot on any Nation's rifles, as with any guns. You can find excellent examples as well as worn ones.
I have four Spanish Mausers, one Yugo and one Turk. All are perfectly functional, with the long-barreled Turk and the Spanish Civil Guard M1916 being the most accurate generally.
The M1916 and FR8 are in the best overall condition, and look the best. All are much better machined than any of my seven Mosins. But a couple of the Mosins are as accurate as the best Mausers I have.

So, I like both types of actions. Just look for the better examples, and you can't go wrong.

My Yugo m48A seems to be of very nice quality.

The only thing I've noticed that *might* be off is the smooth-ness of working the bolt. I've heard that Mauser bolts have a very smooth action, and my Turkish mauser is smooth enough, but my Yugo doesn't feel 'slick' or smooth when working the bolt - even after lubrication and a little grease. It appears to be unfired, if it is then maybe it just needs to be used a bit in order to smooth out?

It's not bad as-is, just not smooth as glass as some of my Mosins are (or my Enfield).

I have several M91/30 Mosins and one M98 Mauser. Accuracy wise, they are about the same. My Moisin's bolt is slick as can be, the Mauser bolt takes more positive action to cycle it.

I like both but am starting to enjoy the Mauser more as I become more used to it. Both will serve well in about any hunting situation.

The only problem I've seen with the Yugos is the stocks being rough as a cob. Like they were rough sanded, then a quick finish applied and mounted.
I stripped, sanded and refinished mine - it looks much better now!

sweet looking rifle Bigdog. I just sent M/O out for my yugo capture k98, and now for the worst part..the wait..starting about next thursday every time I hear a big truck out my window I'll jump up to see if it is the BTOH (Brown Truck Of Happiness)..
