8mm from 30.06

has anyone tried forming 8mm from 30.06 brass ,it can be done.

Well the .30-06 was a necked down 8mm to begin with.

I've been resizing 30/06 to 8mm and using the reloads for deer, elk & antelope hunting for 45 years. Never a problem and easy to do. Resize & trim and it's ready to load.

And if you ever get a Japanese rifle in 7.5, that can be made from 30-06 too. 7.5 French can be made from 6.5 Swede, just fireform and trim.

JIMM - .30-06 to 8mm and 8mm to .30-06 has been done for a long time. The soldiers who brought back K98k rifles during WWII couldn't find ready made 8mm so they figured out how to do it with .30-06 cases.

7.5mm Swiss is easy to make from .284 brass use a .308 bullet (the Swiss is strangely 7.62 not 7.5), and 40 grains of IMR4895. That is a mild but very accurate load for the K31 Schmidt Rubin Swiss.
