I've got the chance to buy this gun for $150 and it looks to be in pretty nice shape. I'm going to go back tomorrow for a closer look. I'm assuming it's built on a '95 action. Any thoughts?

Gustafs are great mausers; Sporter how? I would probably not pay that for one that has had the stock cut and tapped for a scope; however if it had been reworked as in the case of the one I have then I would say he!! yeah jump on it! Just my .02. BTW here is a pic of mine which I traded 2 rifles for, but I know the smith who did the work and the guy who I traded for it with.

carl gustaf mauser should be an 1896 action, originally chambered for the 6.5X55.

I've got a 7.65 Argentine 1909 Mauser 98 in excellent condition I would like to costomize some day.

Well, I'm going to pass on it for now. there was a bit of confusion due to two different hang-tags being twisted up together. The one I was looking at (from a distance) was a Gustaf '96 action chambered in .30-06, in a nice stock and is $300. The other gun is a Gustaf '96 in the factory stock with the hanguard removed and a 7.65 barrel for $150. Instead, I think I'll just buy the Mossberg 500 12 ga. they're clearing out for $150.
