| Thor's Hammer ![]() | Scope Mount
Moose, this is what I was contemplating putting on my M96. It is made in Sweden, and is similar to the original mount. But now you have me wondering if I should try to build a M41B lookalike at all? I was going to have it done by a machinist here.

Steve, That looks like a pretty nice setup. If you proceed, and a machinist does the job, the alignment is critical when drilling and tapping the receiver. Also make sure the screws are flush with the inside of the receiver when installed, so as not to interfere with the Bolt... Rich

The mount is adjustable for windage, real sweet! I was told by many to have Stan's Custom Shop do it for me. They say he's the best. Ask for references and call them, etc. But now I'm questioning the whole project! Maybe I should just wait for the real deal to come around!

Since I do my Own Machining, etc. I am not familiar with some of the newer guys...I know Jim West at Wild West Guns, and Fowlers both do Gunsmithing, and Great Northern Guns does some too. If Gun Traders and Gunrunners recommended Stans, I would think that they would Know !!! Rich

the real deal m41's are very expensive. a correct gun will run over $1500 (the ones samco is currently selling are not correct). be forewarned that once you drill holes in you '96, it will lose its value- not that it would stop me.

they are parts guns. they ran out of correct rifles 3 or 4 years ago, and have been making them themselves since then.

yes, but having all the correct parts makes a 100% difference in value. if you are really interested in them, there are some guys over at gunboards.com that are absolutely knowledgeable about them. just my own opinion, but i believe that what they are putting together now are only worth the sum of the parts.

If you want a Shooter, like you will end up with if you scope yours, It would be a good way to go...Leave the Originals alone ! Rich

You were the one wanting to scope a non-scoped Mil-Surp. I figured for you to have a Shooter, since it would not be collectible anyway once you drilled it... Rich
