Collecting and Shooting the Czech BRNO Vz24 Mauser - HISTORY

Good place to start. I bought one of those as well a few weeks back. Someone tried to refinish the stock and wound up sanding most of it away. Bought it for a song and will be replacing the stock when I find a good one.

Nice rifles. I read that they were known to be more accurate than most Mausers. Have not shot mine yet but will soon.

CZ vz24 Mauser

I have a mismatched CZ 24 and a matched CZ 98/22 Mauser made by Brno. The vz 24 is counter-bored but shoots real nice. CZ's have great workmanship, and the stocks are strong and made of walnut. The CZ 24 is a Kurtz model with a 24" barrel, while the 98/22 has the long 27" barrel. They both have straight bolts with the M98 three lug, large ring actions. The M98 actions have a gas release port in case of a miss fire, and is one of the strongest bolt actions. They have a 5 round mag with a hinged floor plate.

There is a FN M24 Mauser, but that is a Belgian model, and shoots a different cartridge's (7.65?) then the 7.92x57 (8 mm) Mauser round.
