| Question about reloading 8mm Mauser I bought some 8MM Milsurp Turk ammo. The cases are brass and I was wondering if anyone out there has been able to reload it. If not, any input as to the cheapest/recommended way to do reloading of 8MM Mauser ammo would be appreciated. Thanks. |

| Senior Member | the ammo is berdan primed. Therefore it is extremely hard to reload. If you can find dies for the Berdan primers than you good, but then u need to find Berdan primers and good luck with that. The difference between berdan and boxer is that the boxer is a single hole in the bottom where as the berdan has a two hole ignition. Somebody one here was saying about drilling out to make the single hole but I'm not sure how well that works. Do you have a kit yet? Check out the reloading forum for kits. The anniversery kit by Lee is very reasonably priced and i like my little hand press by them as well. |

| berdan primed, not worth the time or hassle. for brass, go buy a couple boxes of winchester ammo shoot it up, and reload it. |

| Senior Member ![]() | The only way to "reload" your ammo is to pull the bullets before firing, resize the case with your decapping pin removed, then load a similar or lighter-weight bullet in the case. This will give you something other than a FMJ military bullet, but you can still only use the case once without major headache, heartache, and expentiture.

| If you can't get enough Boxer primed 8mm cases, use .30-06 cases, anneal the shoulders & size through 8mm trim die, trim off excess, you've now got 8mm boxer cases. |

| I have purchased a couple of boxes of the same ammo...I think. I just got my 8x57 ready for the range (don't get too excited as it's only a 700 Classic that I had the barrel shortened on and added a nice new stock to) and I was wondering how that "sniper" ammo shot. The price is certainly good and I'm hoping it prints very close to where my 196gr hunting load does. Any info would be appreciated. |

| Well, that stuff I bought has been sitting around for 64 years. I haven't had any misfires with mine. I shot the Turk ammo out of my Turk Mauser, and my K98. It shot pretty good out of my Turk Mauser at 100 yds with iron sights. My K98 Mauser shot it high consistently, but I was able to make a pretty good group under 1.5 inches for sure, probly closer to 1 inch, I would have to guess at least 10 inches high from the bulls, and a touch to the right. It didn't hit my paper target, but hit my backdrop paper. I was able to put some on paper compensating for the high shot, and got 3 shots within 3 inches. I'm sure if you have a scope on it you should be able to get it dialed. |
