K-98 stock

This may be a dumb question but I was wondering what the hole in the stock of the K-98's was used for.

if the hole is round with a steel insert, its supposed to help the soldier take apart the bolt apart, if its an elongated slot its for the sling.

K 98 STOCK

I ASSUME THE HOLE YOU ARE ASKING ABOUT IS THE ONE USED TO FINISH THE TAKEDOWN OF THE BOLT . WHEN THE FIRING PIN AND COCKING ,SAFTY, TAKE DOWN USED THE APPROPRIATE HOLE TO PLACE THE FIRING PIN TIP WHILE COMPRESING THE FIRING PIN SPRING.

The hole in the mauser was used to make to make nazi spaghetti. They would push the raw dough thru it and it would come out into elongated bands that they would then use their bayonet to cut into 7" lenghts.

Thanks for the info. That solves the little mystery. I never would have guessed that it was for assisting in bolt assembly.
I knew I could count on you guys!
