I own a turk 38 sporterized and an original m44 mosin and theyre both good rifles . The mosin is easier to strip than the mauser but mausers are probably better quality.

I've had an M44 and a 91/59 MN. I fired 5 rounds thru the 91/59 and now it has taken the place of an M39 Finn in my favorite gunshop. The Finn costs more but it's worth it to me. Less felt recoil probably because it's heavier and accurate "right out of the box". I also have M48s and a 24/47 and I like the M39 over either of these. It's unlikely you will find a good Mauser for what 2 or 3 of the MN 91/30s cost but the Finn M39 is worth a look. Pat at gunsandammo has several for a reasonable cost. Good luck with whatever you choose.
