I purchased a rc k98. it is dated 1937, so i am curious what size cleaning rod it will use? And are these good shooters?

Worked for Grandpa for six years. Still a Mauser, right? Have you checked www.classicarms.us? They have cleaning rods and a little info if I remember correctly.

Should be great shooters! Very well made rifles and rugged.

Can be excellent shooters if the bore is decent. For a 1937 dated K98, you will need a 10 inch cleaning rod. |

It would be great if you could show pics of it and pics of some of the marks that tell you it was a Russian capture.

Since it is an RC it is very unlikely it has the right stock on it so no telling which clg rod you need with out more info. Generaly speaking the flat butt plates take the short rod and the cupped take the long, BUT there are exceptions, so - Take out the bbl band retaining bar and move the sling band foreward - do you see a metal stud in the bottom of the stock? IF so it takes the short rod, if not the long one. Sarge
