| K98 Range Report Did some shooting with some old 8mm ammo out of my German K98 Mauser today. The ammo I shot is as follows on a 15 rd box: 15 CAPTOUCHES MAUSER 7,9 mm A BALLE S S 1939 So does anyone know who made this? Looks kind of French to me. That is the only writing on the box too. Anyways, I set up a target at about 25 yds (forgot my range finder got a few mins away and didn't want to turn around for it when I remembered I forgot it) and shot 5 rds. Pretty good group @ 25 yds they all fit in a 1.5 inch square on my target ranging from .75-1.5" left of the red dot that is 2 inches square. Not too bad. But my 100 yd target was worse. I shot at it 8 times, only 5 hit my 8 x 10" target. The other 3 were close to the paper. But who knows, its probably part me, and maybe it has something to do with 70 yr old ammo. 100 yds away I dunno kinda hard to see the little 2 inch square dots on my paper. Just gotta get it out a little more and try some different ammo. But it can shoot better if I got a good group at 25 yds. Overall, no problems shooting tough, everything went well with it as far as the action and all that stuff. I will be excited to shoot it again. The sooner the better.
