| Bullet Maintenance !! ![]() | Swedes Who has a M96 and a M38 and have developed a good hunting round out of both? My M38 load performs poorly in the M96.

| Swede, Here is a reply I got from a friend in Alabama about his M96. He has it scoped, but I think everything else is original. I haven't tried it yet, but plan to. Sam I'm shooting 45 grains of Hodgdon H4350 with a 140-grain Sierra boat-tail bullet. I think the muzzle velocity is 2,709 FPS. If you back down on the velocity, you might get a better group. But with a cool, clean barrel, I can put a quarter over my group. At 200 yards and in it absolutely expends every bit of energy inside the deer. I shot a doe through the shoulder and heart. It absolutely jellied everything in her chest cavity. The processor asked it I shot her with a 300 mag ballistic tip. At one time I had the 1936 Husquavarna swede with an aperture sight. It was deadly accurate witht he same bullet. |
