| Member | Either of those rounds should be fine. Try both and see what your rifle likes better. Even better would be to slug your bore. That way you could find out exactly. But .001" isnt going to make much of a difference in pressure or accuracy. The 1909 was chambered in the exact same cartridge so it was the same. Unless your refering to the 8x57 in the Mod 98. The 8mm was a much more powerful round. The 7.65x53 is more in the mild .308 class. |

| Senior Member | What I have is a round close to the .303British cartridge and suspect the 1891 is not as strong as the later mauser models, would store bought Norma 7.65x53mm Belgian/Argentine be too much pressure for this rifle? |
