| Member | Factory Loads for Spanish Mauser I’ve had my 1916 Spanish Mauser, chambered in 7mm Mauser (7x57mm) checked out by my Gunsmith and he checked the headspace, and everything looks good. He didn’t have any ammo, so told me to order some good quality Factory Loads for him to test-fire. HE SPECIFICALLY SAID DON’T EXCEED 46,000 CUP. I went to Hornady, and they offer two loads but don’t specify CUP. I sent them an email, but haven’t heard back yet. Can anyone suggest a “First Quality” ammo manufacturer who publishes CUP on their 7mm Mauser loads? I would like to have a variety of loads from which to choose.

| Grumpy Old Fart ![]() | The industry standard is 45,000 for the 7X57. All Commercial ammo is held to this working pressure because of all the old rifles like yours that are out there. So any standard 7X57 ammo would be good I would think. Also, check the box to see if it is listed.

| Member | Thanks, Swedesteve. I suspected that no first-quality company would risk putting out factory ammo in higher CUP in 7mm Mauser without warning customers not to use them in Spanish Mausers. I have a rebarreling planned for this Mauser, but my local Smith had go/no go gauges and so I had him check the headspace anyway. No word back yet from Hornady customer service. I’ll go back to Midway and see if they have Wolf Creek ammo in 7mm Mauser. Maybe Wolf Creek will have more data on their Site. Do you know anyplace that sells 45ACP go/no go gauges for less than $60 total?
