I have an old Chinese army Mauser. The markings are not Oriental. My father-in-law got it on a battfield in China in the 1930's. It has the numbers 24-1 (Jan. 1924?) and a double diamond stamp. I cannot find the stamp or a picture of the rifle anywhere. Thanks.

The Chinese purchased rifles from all over Europe prior to WW2. They used German M1888 and Copied it (Type 88), They bought Belgian FN M1924 and M1930 and copied them, Czech BRNO M1924 Rifles and copied them, and A Mauser 7.92mm "Standard Model" export rifle copied by the Chinese in 1935 Now called the Type 79 Rifle by the PRC...
