Mauser Price Assessment

Ok, my gym teacher is wondering how much this gun is worth, so he asked me to ask you guys how much you think its worth. Help would be appreciated.

Here's what the gun is.

1909 Argentine Mauser
7.65 Cal.
The factory it was made in looks to be Deutsche Waffen-Und Munitionfabriken. Berlin

All matching (on outside at least) serial numbers of C9627
Stainless finish on bolt and reciever, not blued

The gun seems to be in pretty much pristine condition, with rifling still strong. Safety doesn't seem to have hardly been used as it is really tight.
A picture below. I might get some more on later.

So if you guys could give me an estimate on how much it's worth, that would be awesome.

A shame it has been Polished out and is not the original finish, But it is worth 150.00 to 200.00 as is....

That's all that was done to it was it was polished? Hmmm, $150 to $200 doesn't seem like much for a gun in that condition. Why so low?

7.65 Mauser is not as popular as 8mm (7.92)...They are the older Straight bolt Mausers built for South American countries...
You might be looking at 500 -650 if it was not polished out, but that cuts the value for a collectable gun way down, as if it was reblued....
The Crest is still present, and that is a plus as most were ground off when Imported into the U.S.

I wouldnt give more than $150 for it. Too bad too looks nice otherwise. It would be good for shooting the heck out of it.

I have a carbine version of the 1909, bolt and receiver are in the white. I am the 2nd owner since it was imported in the early 70's, so I believe it is the original finish. The rifle, I believe, was the same finish.

I just bought the rifle today. I offered $175, as I really like the gun. He took the offer, and now I have my first Mauser. Does anyone know where to get good/cheap 7.65mm ammunition. I've seen some for $14 a box on Midway, but does anyone know any better deals.

In my opinion that's a good price for a very clean rifle regardless of scrubbing or polishing. AIM Surplus has Privi for $12.50. If you don't mind using milsurp Pat Burns has some on Gunbroker....just search on 7.65 Argentine.

I've searched some, and haven't found pictures of any 1909 Argentine Mauser with an actual blued receiver. I've seen pictures of an 1891 with the blued receiver, but not the 1909. On gunbroker, all of the argentine 1909s have the white recievers and bolts, so I don't know.

The crest on my1891 Argentine has been scrubbed but the metal is highly polished. The bolt and bolt handle look like polished stainless. It's one of the sleekest rifles I own and I'm not going to fret over the scrubbing.
