Exclamation K98 handguard problem

Hi guys, I recently bought a sporterized k98 and I got most of the parts to restore it but upon inspecting how it goes together I found that where the rear part of the handguard touches the rear sight base there is supposed to be a like a lip sticking out to hold down the back of the handguard, but bubba seemed to have ground that part off when it was sporterized. So I was wondering what I should do about this. Would the rear band hold toe whole thing down by itself? Or should I do something else to hold it in place?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, K.H.

I don't know thats a tough call. I've got a K98 too
and its been bubba'd. I need the handguard, stock,
barrel bands and bayonet attachment. On yours
I wonder if it would work anyway.
