another turk

Just picked up another turk, it was started as a sporterization. The previous owner is a machinist, and cut the bbl 6" and crowned it. He cut the lower wood back to the last taper on the bbl, and removed the back sight base completly. I want to either bend the bolt handle or replace it with one of those aftermarket jobs advertised for about 15 bucks. Any advice or opinions on this would be most appreciated. Saddam Sux!
