I came across a C.D. Mauser in .30-06 in a gun shop the other day. It's a field grade in a black synthetic stock and was priced at $460.
It's a new rifle they have had for a while and I liked the looks of it. The bolt seemed a little stiff when I opened it but would probably smooth out with use.
Anyone have any experience or opinions?

I have seen the Charles Daly name come and go from the marketplace several times in my lifetime on products ranging from higher quality to not so high quality.
I do not know at present who either ownes or licenses the Charles Daly name.
Pretty much I feel it is up to the buyer to decide if the product bearing the Charles Daly name is good or not. Personally, I cannot state I feel the name has any particular value.
I will have to keep an eye on this post as I picked up a NIB CD chambered in 26-06 today. I have to figure out which bases to use, mount a scope and test it out.

Found this info while chasing a CD model 5 .22 by Zastava awhile back. I believe Zastava, Serbia was also where they mfg'd the Yugo. Pretty little rifle tho', but couldn't get Gander to negotiate.
I aquired the C.D. mauser w/double triggers inn 30-06, am having trouble finding the right base's, tried leupolds one pc didn't fit, tried leupold two pc didn't fit, any help with specfic # should would be appreciated, I have replaced the stock w/boyds thumbhole laminated, bedded and floated the barrel. really looks good.
in actuality there is no such thing as a Charles Daly anything. I will explain. When I was young Sears owned the name and put it on a wide variety of sporting goods. They even had a model (older, tanned, silver haired guy) supposedly signifying wisdom, experience, and approval for the Sears products. They wanted the customers to believe this was Charles Daly.

Actually, it is pretty much up to the buyer to do the research and learn about the product upon which appears the Charles Daly name.
If you are not comfortable with the product then do not buy it.

Are you trying standard Mauser Mauser bases?A standard Mauser base is .60"lower on the back ring than on the front. ,,sam.
