| I just finished putting my new M96 together after a complete teardown and cleaning. I really don't think the rifle was ever disassembled before. There was only a couple of very small spots of grease around the trigger group and magazine that looked like they were put there when the rifle was assembled. The wood under the barrel is spotless and looks virtually brand new. Those Swedish sure stamped a number or crown on every single part! The handguard, stock and all other numbers match. Its nice to see such an old rifle with screw heads that aren't all boogered up by some some dummy without the right size screwdriver. I decided not to refinish it and keep it original. I did put one light coat of BLO on it. The machining, fit and finish is awesome. I can't wait till the weekend to see if its as accurate as everyone says. I've heard nothing but good stuff about these mausers. I love the grain in the wood. It has the "fiddleback" pattern in it and a couple of nice stripes on the forearm. I think this one could be my favorite! |
