| Yugo Mauser from J&G Arrives!
Well it finally came in today. It was caked in cosmo all over the place. The handguard was stuck on pretty good with cosmo. A good mineral spirits bath and a good wipe down with a dry cloth took care of the stock. Lots of paper towels getting everything off. Toothbrush and mineral spirits worked pretty well. Bolt was just nasty. Mineral spirits in a bottle and shake it around, let sit, shake again etc. and they came out nice and clean. The stock looks great, I like the dark wood on it. The bayo I got off Colorado Gun Sales a while back. Bore looks great. Got some vids that would be up already on YT, but they were having some maintenance done, so the vid will have to wait until tomorrow. ![]() Here is the vid I did as I started out... Anyways, here are some pics to hold everyone over. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Bore pic before: ![]() Bore pic after:

Damn nice looking Yugo M24/47 Mauser ya' picker up there IronC. Again, CONGRATS! Bore, rifling, lands and groves looks real good...Shoots the 8mm don't it? By the way, what's the effective range for/of one of these? Good out to about 600yds. isn't it? Or is it more or is it less? And please, forgive my ignorance. But in the photo below, just to the right of M24/47, isn't that a Russian word or writing? Or is/does Yugoslavian look the same? I mean, I know it's in the same area; but I thought they spoke a different language and it looked different even when written? As I said, forgive my ignorance. I know little about that side of the globe. Well, that is other then what I learned in school and of what little I remember or can recall of it. lmao

The one I bought had a stock that you could actually take your thumbnail and gouge great big pieces of wood out of it,the bore looked like someone shot the crap out of it and stuck it in a wet cave for 70yrs.the action is great and planning to put a 22/250 barrel on it and stick it in a boyds salt and pepper laminate and kill varmits with it.You got a good rifle. What is the C&R price on them now from J&G ? |

Good looking rifle. Great bore also. Are you going to leave it the way it is or are you going to bend the bolt and scope it? Nothing wrong with dressing up a Mauser to do more.

Looks good sir! Did yours not come with a bayo from J&G? I know mine did a few years back, but maybe they changed that huh? Also, what is on your bayonet in those pictures? It looks like there is some sort of cloth or something wrapped around it close the barrel?

And not to forget, well done Colonel - you did an outstanding clean up job! |

| I was wondering what that 'crest' was in the 4th pic? It is on the top & foward on the receiver...

| Did any of the German WW2 K98's have that type of crest in that location?

Some WWII German K98's were supplied to Axis allied factions in Yugoslavia. Other rifles may simply have been left there at the end. After the war they were scrubbed and a Yugo crest similar to the one pictured was placed in the same location. The Yugos called these the "M98."

Good info, good questions. Didn't know that about the "M98s". But I have never seen one either.

Thanks! And hey, if you send a couple boxes of ammo with your rifle, I'll do it for free and ship the empty boxes back too!

Anyways what are the various places that carry the Yugo Mausers and can you get decently priced SP ammo for the 8mm(7.97) Mauser?
