You cant beat the GERMAN K98. Sure, the other rifles are wonderful guns....but you cant beat the K98 for handling. Best all around rifle in the world.

CR107 & Joker - both your bnz's are Radom receivers assembled at Steyr.
Are they all matching? I'd bet not. Import marked?

My older brother sent two Mausers home from Germany in 1945. Gave one to me and kept the other.The one I got was a 98,but I had it sporterised(?) some years back but it is still 8mm. My brother passed away last year,and just recently my nephew (His son)gave me the other. A CZ/vz24 still all original 8mm. My favorite however is a Siamese Mauser that was rebuild and sold by a company in New York (Inter-Arm-Co) I think it was called,back in the 70`s. Only thing original is the action. Has a Douglas Barrel,Fajin Stock,Williams open sights, and oh yes,it is 45/70 Govt.cal. And I love it !

Got a VZ24 to add to the collection now! Ex-Sniper as I understand it. Don't know a lot about them, was hoping some of our fine Mauser members would be able to shed some light on the topic as well. Here is a YT vid of it I posted.

Iron-Colonel;
Looks like a pretty good machine to me. It is almost a twin to the one I mentioned above that I just got from my nephew.Mine still has the front sight guard, and has not been ground down for another sight system.
I have not shot mine since my brother sent it home in 1944,then took it with him to Ohio,but will get some shells loaded soon, and get it out again.
I am not all that much up on CZ`s, but understand that they are as good as most any 98 Mauser you will find,and better than some.

Back to the top! Gewehr 98 Mauser is the newest Mauser edition. Bought it last month, but it's time to revive this thread! Made a stock repair to my G98 so my bayonet lug would fit on and stay. Now I need to find one of the "butcher blade" bayonets the Germans used to complete the rifle! Here are 2 vids. One is my stock repair (my first, so you pro's out there don't critique too hard!) and then my Mausers.

A typical nice Yugo 48A. The previous owner took a deer in Missouri at 300 yards with the iron sights.
Looking forward to buying components and Prvi to reload for it.

I just started collecting mausers and their bayonets, I liked the long rifles but its time for a carbine. I just don't know if I should get a k98 or similar or stay with my pre ww1 streak. Here's are my rifles so far , they are both great shooters in 7mm (7x57).
Spanish 1893
Chilean 1912
Let me know what you think.
I would like to get a Model 71/84 or a gewehr 88 ( i know it's not a mauser, but they are nice). It would be great if a gun company was to reproduce the 71/84 in modern calibers, I love that tubular magazine.

The gew 88 isn't a mauser it was made by the german gov and mauser was not consulted so he made the 1893 to make them look dumb which I believe they adopted in 95. The 71/84 was a mauser and a hell of a rifle with a 9.5 to 11.5 caliber, I would love to find one of those at the gun show im on my way to, hope I find something good.
