What is the value of a good 7mm mauser?

I have been wanting to add a 7mm Mauser to my arsenal to go along with my 7.92MM Mauser. There are a couple of choices but from what I am seeing the Spanish 7MM Mauser seem to be more avalible. So my question would be what do you guys think would be a fair price for and average condition Spanish 7MM mauser with a good barrel in good shooting condition? I see prices all over the place. I am not really sure of the collectability of these but my main plan is to to shoot the crap out of it at the range. I do not own closet queens.

Well,

I would not say this is a real collector piece unless, of course, you hit the jackpot with a very pristine rifle. Price will depend on what you want to offer and what someone will take.

Just as a question, have you thought about rebarreling an existing action to this caliber? A new barrel could really give you some accuracy satisfaction.

No I had not considered rebarreling. If so which rifle would you start with? I saw one Spanish 7MM mauser that looked to be in pretty good condtion but $360.00 dollars seemed a bit high for the price.

Well,

I think it is too much for a Spanish Mauser.

However, the Mauser action is an excellent candidate for rebarreling.

It might be worth it to look for "beat up" rifle with a good action.
Keep the action, put on a new barrel, and rework the stock.

Seriously, rebarelling is a great route to performance and pleasure.

Best wishes.

I bought a VZ-24 in 7mm from Century. Junk. The only good thing is the action. It will hopefully be rebarreled and sporterized soon. The bore slugs at .288 rather than the correct for 7mm .284. Good luck finding one in good shape.

Rebarrelling

What I mean to suggest is not finding a used barrel but purchasing a new barrel from a reputable manufacturer.
