| 1893 Mauser Sporter Identification
I recently picked up a 93 Mauser sporter, though I am having some trouble identifying when and where it was made. There are very few markings on the gun, the top of the receiver has a mark that cannot be read. The bottom of the receiver has a marking that is mostly gone with a first line beginning with a 'K' and the second line beginning with an 'F'. There is a 5 point star with a circle on the trigger assembly, a 4 digit serial stamped on the left middle of the receiver, and a .8MM stamped on the rear of the barrel that looks like a newer mark. It is in great shape and has probably been re-blued and put into a newer wood stock (Bishop butt-plate) and Buehler safety. I am no Mauser expert - but, I'm sure it's a 93 bolt (flat bottom bolt face - small ring, cock-on-close). I am additionally confused as to whether it is a .318 I or .323 IS caliber 8MM. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate the info. Thanks.

It is unlikely that it would be the older 8mm mauser. The Spanish Mausers were usually in either 7.65 argentine or 7x57 mauser calibers. Does it have the small oval hole drilled in the left side of the receiver? Perhaps it is a Turkish rebuild. Can you post some pics?
