| browning mauser 9P in 22-280???
I am very fortunate as I have a good friend that is the manager of a local, large chain pawn shop that calls me when nice guns or unusual guns are about to drop from pawn and she called me last night and said that this browning mauser model 9P in a 22-280 Rem caliber gun was about to come out and it also included a case that has 6 barrels included that are all in stainless steel. She knew the previous owner and said that he has never shot this rifle and she also notes that it looks as if it was manufactured yesterday. Flawless was her exact words. Does anybody have any info as I could not seem to find any on my internet search. I have not seen the gun myself but will be hot footing it up there today to take a look. Any info will be appreciated. edit. The 9P part came from a paper tag that was on the gun. it actually say 98 as i suspected. the 22-280 part is actually 22-250 that is poorly double stamped on the barrel that kinda looks like 280. Thats a new one on me.Never heard of a Browning-Mauser altho FN built Brownings.A .22-280 would be a wildcat I believe.Be sure and take a camera.Personally I believe your lady friend got her wires crossed somehow.Could be something new. ,,,sam.

ok went to look at it today and heres what i found. All 7 barrels are stainless steel and were custom built. Only 2 of them were caliber stamped. A 22-250 and a 270 win. the others i am told from the guy who owned it are 243, 30-06, 338, 35 whelan, and i can't remember the other one. the receiver is a blued FN Belgium by Browning. Stock looks ok but is not flawless as previously noted. butt plate is FN and its still all there. I know without seeing it that its had to say but any idea what this is worth? it comes with a full set of barrel shims and the barrel vise. |

| Could this be a mistake
Should it really be .22-250 which is a well known round although it is not so popular at present as it was several decades ago?

the rifle in pristine, NRA 95% condition and one barrel is worth $450-$500 then $100 for each additional barrel since they are not marked and do not know the maker. you will need headspace gauges for switching barrels which will not be an easy chore for this type of setup. also leary of the .338, which is a Win. Mag requiring a larger boltface than the 06 cartridge family. also I wonder how well it feeds with the different cartridge lengths. i'd offer them $800 max, if you really wanted it. then have a gunsmith install and tune the barrel and caliber you wanted, then sell the xtra barrels.
