M1922 BRNO Mauser

Has anyone gotten one of these things from SOG? Mine got here yesterday, and I finally went to pick it up today. I have a couple of questions about the rifle and SOG.

1. The stock and hand guard are cracked, will SOG replace them? If not, will the Turkish mauser stock fit the Czech Mauser.

2. How do I tell what the date this thing was made? The serial # is 107, and has a stamp above that, that is E some kind of seal and 23. Was this thing made in 1923?

Over all, this thing is a hunk of stuff. The bore might clean up alittle, but the rest is ugly. There is no finish left on the gun, and the pitting just starts at the wood line, and get worse. They are listed as good to very good, but I have seen better listed as fair condition. What have your rifles looked like, did I just get a lemon?

That doesn't sound so good, Willys. I have bought a couple of Turks from SOG. They were listed as Very Good. They were closer to Good upon arrival, but I was still happy with them considering the price. Unfortunately, those Turks were in better shape than what you have described of the Czech. I have thought about ordering one of those Czechs from SOG as well, but I think I might drop that idea for now. Maybe they will take it back, as Papa G has suggested.

The Turk stock will not fit without some modification to the barrel channel; different step pattern in the barrels and rear sight ring size.

I don't think they are all as bad as the one I got. A friend of mine ordered one, and he is very happy with his. I haven't seen it yet, but he said the metal was in good shape, with about 50% of the blueing still there, and a perfect bore.

If SOG will replace the stock, I will keep the rifle. If they won't, they will get it back.

thanks for the input
