    About that muzzleloader.

I'd check your laws before you decide. The truth is traditional muzzleloaders arn't that much harder to clean than a modern inline and you get a sense of pride when using a traditional one.

Here's something to think about. Most traditional style guns have a rifleing twist rate of 1:48 being the faster twist all the way to 1:66 being the highere one. You have to have the right rifleing for the bullet you are going to shoot! Modern inlines usually have a twist for 1:24 or 1;28, Very fast and ment ONLY for long sabots and big conicles. Round ball shoots best out of a twist of 1:66 because it is short. You'll not do will with round ball in a 1:28 twist rifle.

    I'd go traditional.

Buy a Lyman Trade rifle if you can find one. TC hawkens are good too. If you stumble into a traditions hawken it's a good gun a well.

Buy a can of Pyrodex RS, a powder measure and ball starter. Stay away from those pellets except for modern inline ignition.
Get a tin of #11 percussion caps, you should stay away from flintlocks.

If you want to go modern, you can't beat a TC omega z5.

hunting is ok here, we don't have any monster bucks or anything like down in Illanois but the deer population has defanitly grown over the years because my grandpa used to own the land and he would take over 15 deer every year to feed his 5 kids all year round. We rent out alittle bit of the wooded land so I can't hunt all of it but I'm really lucky to live the way I do.

I live on a family owned dairy farm, we have about 450 head of cattle, 25 pigs, 3 hoarses, 12 chickens, and 4 dogs. We grow soybeans, corn, and alfalfa. We own abot 2500 acres and about 500 of those acres are wooded.
