Hey Mr. Spaker,
Sorry about taking so much time to answer you. I got the gun out to shoot when I came back from Kuwait. I bought it from him last summer and had it waiting on me when we got home on vaction. Anyway, the first I took it out. It would cycle ok most of the time, but sometimes it would not go to full battery, ie, pick up a new round and seat the bolt, ready to fire. I took it apart and found all kinds of gunk, I thought on the operating spring. I ordered a new spring from Orion, and took it back out. Now it won't pick up a fresh round. Boy was I pissed. Then I got the book from Walt that he and another fellow wrote about building a Garand from the ground up. I have owned two Garands before this one, but am still learning. Turns out the operating spring is supposed to have grease applied to it pretty heavy. So I put the original operating spring back in it and still haven't got out to shoot it yet. I need to get that done before the warranty runs out on it in June.

Hey, I was just reading your thread from last month about the problems you were having with your Garand Guy rifle. I'm having the same problem with my Garand Guy M1 where it won't chamber a new round. Were you ever able to get yours fixed? I am getting more and more frustrated with this ordeal (the first one he sent me had rust in the barrel) and am considering sending it back for a refund.
If I can get it to cycle properly, I think it will be okay. Just wondering what you had to do to get yours to work right.
