I love my Springfield 1911. My favorite gun to shoot. Accurate as can be, will eat anything and stop anyone. Sitting here on my desk now. I keep my .357 Ruger GP 100 by the bed because I think a revolver is easier if woken from a dead sleep but the 1911 is next to my desk.

    Gary,

I also purchased my first Springfield 1911 loaded (parkarized) about a month ago. I have 330 rounds through it and had only one misfeed in the first hundred (and I think that was due to a magazine issue). I have switched to the Wilson Combat 8-round magazine and have since put 230 flawless rounds through it with multiple brands of ammo (even all mixed in a single magazine). I like Springfields and am looking for the XDm in 45...I'll probably buy the first one I see.

I've swapped around some revolvers and such, but the Springfield and the Slim are my newest, and only two semi's. Guns are fun to shoot, fun to clean, fun to talk about, fun to collect...just fun. Later, Mike

I picked out an armscor .38 in matt finish for at work . I clean restaraunt exhaust systems and use a power washer .I figured around all the mostuire , the matt would help prevent rust . price was right $150 NIB .Been using it about 6 months at work and no sign of rust . Lucky me ...LOL

I was going to leave it but thought someone might read it wrong and think I was saying it was a poor gun AKA "Shitty Gun". I like my Slim. Not sure I'm ready to give up the XD as my carry gun but I do like the Slim a lot.

I'm somewhat new to the handgun world. I own a 9MM subcompact. I am looking into another handgun. Trying to decide between the Springfield XD subcompact .40 with a 3" barrel or an XD Compact 45 with a 4" barrel. The overall length difference is less than 1 inch so concealment won't be too different. Any advice on accuracy, recoil and kick between the two? What would be better for a beginner?
