My wife surprised me with that ""purty 30.06 Rem 700 BDL" for Christmas the first year after I hunted with my 03A3. My SIL advised her on which gun to get. I can thank both of them for their choices.
But...I understand what you mean about fancy guns being too fancy to expose to the rough treatment they may get under some circumstances. I just try to use reasonable care...but don't get obsessed with protecting it. I take it wherever I need to to get to the best deer location.

I have made a change at your request to read that the gun would be shipped at your expense.

All year long I look forward to the next deer season, and it's that time again here in Missouri. Last weekend I hunted with my two son's in law and one of their brothers in the extreme NW corner of Missour, in Atchinson County. Hamburg, Iowa is about 20 miles north where we usually have our deer processed.

I sighted 10 deer last Saturday but for various reasons none was one I wanted to shoot. Here, a buck must have 4 points on one side, or more, to be legal game. I saw two or...

Not only do I deer hunt...but I also enjoy taking my old 16 ft aluminum modified V hull to the lake about one day every week for crappie fishing.
Yesterday, for example, Ron and I were on the lake by 9:30 a.m. and headed to my favorite site to catch crappie.
First, I'll describe a little about my boat. I bought it in June, 2006 and it required many hours to totally renovate the entire boat and trailer. Nothing was untouched or left undonen. For example, even the stainless steel...

You know what? it's about time for deer hunting here in Missouri. Last season over 300K deer were "harvested." The word "harvested" seems a little weak for what actually happens to those deer that meet up with a bullet to their body. So why not just say 300,000 deer were killed and be totally frank? Anyway. that's a lot of good eating for the lucky hunters...and a lot of employment for employees of locker plants, etc. that do the butchering. Of course, many hunters have...

Can't let billy be the only active blogger...so here are my comments.

1. It's hot and muggy this evening here in KC, MO. In fact it's almost a new temperature record for this time of the year at 89 F and around 45% humidity. Yeah, I know there's lots of places with higher temps and humidity...but I'm here. Actually, I'm glad to have this unusual fall weather instead of the usual cold blasts of air we sometimes get at this time. All I need to do is turn on the ceiling fans and keep...
