Hi Phil. I have read a lot of your posts and tend to agree with them. I have a nephew that is going to go to S. Africa on a hunt and he wanted me to lend him a rifle. I gave him my custom mauser in 416 Weatherby Magnum (rechambered from 416 Rigby). Would you suggest something larger or do you feel that this will be adequate? I do have a few rifles that are larger, but I just hate to send those doubles out of my hands.

Not sure when they were shot, but they both came out of the Northern Territory. More than Arhnem land going by the size of those horns.

I came across the pictures and thought you might enjoy a look.

Cool your designing a cartridge? You should join the social group on cartridge comparisons lol. I started it and dont really know what the social groups are all about but it fairly fun so far! It snowed again this last week.... Makes me mad because it was pretty much all gone. Now everything is mud and snow. Pretty soon i think i will go fishing as well, but theres no pond behind my house, we do have a creek of sorts but it only really "runs" during the spring. The rest of the year its mostly a trickle filled with stickle backs. TTYL

    Andrew,

    Patients . . . . . . . the sun will shine again !

    Just a matter of time.

I have discovered there are actually fish in the small lake behind my house. Been fooling around fishing the last few days. Catching catfish and bluegill. Mostly catfish though.

I think I will go pig hunting in a few weeks. A guy I know says he knows where we can shoot pig where you pay by the pound, which suits me well. I want an "eater" not a tusker. Also, there is a 'game ranch' here that is selling it's land to the state, so maybe there will be a sale on some critters. That would be fun.

Thats it for now. I have to send an email to a guy that is talking about a safari next year. AND, I have another small problem to sort out on the cartridge I am designing/developing. Just have to give it a good think and decide what I want to do with it.

    Talk to you later.

    Regards,
    Phil

    Hey Andrew,

I am doing fine. Another nice day in Florida coming up. I used to live in SoCal, moved here 2 1/2 years ago. The weather here is better than Cal. from Dec. - June !

As I said, have been a Florida resident for 2 1/2 yrs., but only been in my house about 8 or 9 months. In June we leave here and go to Tanzania and return in Dec. in time for Christmas with my parents (in Cal.).

Some of the members here crack me up. Because you can shoot, it does not mean you are a hunter ! So many people here are concerned about recoil. It is what it is ! Either practice until you can deal with it, or shoot 223's ! And then just hunt varmints !

    Ok, off my soap box.

    Talk to you soon.

    Regards,
    Phil
