i posted this question to jimkim and i wanted your opinion also is split brass dangerous or no big deal i have some 32 long colt that is 10 thousands smaller in diameter to my 32 long when i shoot them the the brass splits I'm shooting them in a colt revolver i haven't had much experience in split brass and your opinion is greatly appreciated i have been told by people that its no big deal but i don't know them well enough to trust them

sam, in regards to the .22 rifle vs. pistol thread, I probably shouldn't have made the dead horse comment. My personal experience with .22 pistols is very minimal other than plinking and the occassional small critter. I agree with you on blowback being comparable to the gasses that escape from a revolver. I let my personal opinion overshadow some of the obvious realities on this topic. That said I have always tried my best when killing an animal to do it as safely and humanely as possible, and I myself would not use a .22 pistol to put down a horse. However, I do realize that in more experienced and competent hands than mine, this may be perfectly acceptable.
