Hello TWM. Thank you for the friendly post on my CP. Yes, it is "Ingo in the US" as I am originally from Germany (don't hold it against me ).

MN misses you. You know what they say: "Once you lived here, you will always come back, jaah". Hope to see you around!

Thanks for the kind words WanderingMind. I love the old rifles, and the albums were a test to see if I could create them. The pictures don't do justice to how the guns really look in person.

Hey, TWM, we geezers gotta stick together! LOL! I like your decor, though it makes my eyes jiggle a bit. Did I see that you're still on active duty? I tried, but they couldn't take a broke down old Seabee back without an act of congress. After three months of fighting red tape, and getting chewed out by my NCO son, I gave up to reality. But I do try to say something for them, on a daily basis. If you have to go again, you'll be in our prayers, with the rest.

Yes, I know the area around Alex well. But I have not been to LeCompte. On my mother's side of rhe family, I have relatives that live in Marksville and the surrounding area which is about thirty miles south of Alex. I have hunted in that area quiet a lot and am planning to hunt there this coming hunting season. I do read a bit but not nearly as much as you. It is seldom that I finsh a book in a week, much less a day, although I have done so in the past. I am, as I'm sure you know, an eclectic reader, I will devour any book on any subject if the subject appeals to me. But I absolutely refuse to read mysteries. I tried when I was younger but that genre never did "light my fire." I love to hunt, can't stand to fish Now going after Crawfish---that's a whole 'nother subject.
I'm not retired military, but I am retired. LOVE IT!
I'm a fair shot with a single action revolver out to 25yds and used to be darn good with an iron-sighted rifle. But this year I'm going to be useing a scope for the first time did pretty fair with it at the range @ 50yds with my .22 scoped rifle Also I'm going to try a tang "peep" sight on one of my rifles and see how I do with that.
I live across the river from "Chocolate City," ----in Jefferson Parish. But the politicans here are just a hair better than those in "The Big Easy" But let's not go there, let's keep this frendly and speak of things we enjoy. Nice to hear from you!

A note to my fellow G&G members: I may have to drop out for a while, because I've changed jobs (we contracted out and my old job was given to some low-paid civilian), my family structure at home has changed (my daughter and her daughter moved back in), and I'm looking down the barrel of an Air Force Unit Compliance Inspection - the dreaded ORI, as it used to be known - early next year. So, if I can't hang around and bullshit like I used to, at least you'll know why.. Now, gotta get back to...

From the AP:

Quote:
One of President Barack Obama's campaign pledges on taxes went up in puffs of smoke Wednesday.

The largest increase in tobacco taxes took effect despite Obama's promise not to raise taxes of any kind on families earning under $250,000 or individuals under $200,000.

"This is one tax that disproportionately affects the poor, who are more likely to smoke than the rich.

"To be sure, Obama's tax promises in last year's campaign

That little beauty flying along hauling a 37mm cannon behind it is an original "Bantam Reconnaissance Car" - one of the first U.S. Army Jeeps! The "go anywhere, do anything" original Jeeps were absolutely amazing, cost only a few thousand dollars of taxpayer money, and had reasonable ground clearance, reasonable mobility and reasonable power -- more in the Model "T" class, as far as it went, but enough that...

Been a long, hard couple or three weeks since I was on here last....

I've smoked since I was 15, except for three years when I managed to quit and then went back under a stressful situation and restarted. I've known for years I had chronic bronchitis, but I've been going along well for the past five years, even to the point of leaving my portable oxygen in the car when going into WalMart and similar places, trying to wean myself off the stuff.

Three weeks ago or so,...

Somebody was talkin' on our smokin' porch about his 6mm Hawg gun... I told him I had a couple of pix of a hawg that would have ate up his hawg gun.

I personally wouldn't get around one of these big tuskers without a couple of LAW rockets in my backpack. I'm a devout coward who enjoys living too much...

I don't remember who sent me these pictures, but that's a hefty hawg. Darned thing's almost as big as me...
