Question M4 M4A1 cleaning rod

Hi all,

While digging around in the basement of my new house I found a cleaning rod for a M4 M4A1 37mm gun. It's still has packing grease, the original wax paper wrapper (although this is torn) and the production tag with serial no. and 1943 packing date.

If anyone can give me an idea of how common these are or if it has any collector value and if it's worth anything I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Eric

Are you talking about a cleaning rod for an M4 Sherman tank?!?!

Thats awesome but i have no idea what that'd be worth. Im sure there is someone out there that really wants one and would be willing to pay a good bit for it, its just a matter of finding that person.

Edit:

May I ask how you acquired that ?

Hey Mosin ruger, no it's not for the tank ( that would be really cool ) it's for the 37 mm gun that was used on 2 planes that were sent to Russia for use on the eastern front and was also mounted on Navy PT boats.

I know everything is worth what someone is willing to pay, just wondering if there are a bunch of these floating around or if it would fall into an odd niche collectable.

Personally, I thought the shipping tag with dates and ser. no was cool, as well as it is dated 1943 and never used. If only I had a 37 mm cannon that shoots explosive rnds. to clean I'd be in business.

oh, btw, yes I did look through the rest of the rafters just to make sure the gun wasn't up there somewhere. LOL

Here is some more info: it is a 2 piece rod with a T handle and a patch loop. The tag reads:

1-STAFF, CLEANING M12
B170966 REV. NO. 1
CODE M3-01-14268 PKG. 02/16/43
ACCESSORIES MFG. BY RIA

There is also a red stamp behind the first 2 lines of type that looks like a cartoon bomb.

Thanks again
