| Registered User | Bubble Boy I need a flame thrower* but will revert to 2x2 technology to make my own but alas; what are the odds of holding a bic + hairspray can and having can explode from back-flame? Of course finished product would resemble a gun w/trigger. Here's what happened: Yesterday was unusually hot near 78 degrees. Upon arrival to my house after work, no less than 10 mins at PC, a wasp was banging into the desk lamp. Battlestations! After leaving room for 1 hr, I returned and took steps! Seal the Gate: All windows sealed as hermetically as possible. Cryogenic Chamber: AC is set on 60 degrees (this worked and killed wasp crawling on floor next day. My room prior was kept at 85 degrees. Then I Googled and quote "Just a quick note on this posting...NEVER step on/smash/swat a wasp. When you do they emit a scent that attracts other wasps who will then attack. It's a defense mechanism." Damn you! *Close Range Attack: Am building a mini flame thrower w/10" wide range for 1 on 1 confrontations. Up the Wattage: Taser gun for swarms? Unverified. Love my Carpet: Blacktop wooden floors. Tracking System: Set up motion detectors upon being triggered release poision via netted air ducts with friendly 30sec audible voice delay triggering system. Total Regurgence: Reverse the gravitational pull -200% (Bungee cords and Duct tape advised for keepsakes) and create a time-lock warp to wall out every insect in the world! There goes the neighborhood: Nuclear Intervention! MAU: For work, I want to build a Mobile Assault Unit; using a radio-controlled firetruck w/RC controlled bug sprays and optional camera guide for long range rebuttals. HAH! Having researched ultrasonic and bug zappers have concluded both are ineffective at best. Crud. |

| Senior Member ![]() | Back in the 70's when I watched them wash down some military flamethrowers at FT. Gordon The ordinance guys told me they have a habit of leaking and setting the operator on fire and the Army was getting rid of them. They were a quick fix during ww2 to begin with for the caves and bunkers and have been replaced by safer to operate hardware. |

| Senior Member | I have a "flame thrower", but it's more of a glorified blow torch. It uses a small propane gas tank (rather than the liquid used in real flame throwers) and will ignite brush at about 10ft. Not really the flame thrower you were looking for, but it was a heck of a lot cheaper. |

| Senior Member | MAKE ONE!!! Or contact this place and see if they have any leads? Knob Creek Gun Range Check/ask the forum. When I've watched the episodes on Shooting Gallery when they've had it on, there have been a few guys with flamethrowers on the show/there. In all honesty Rich, I think you'll have to make one as they are hard to find. Most were left behind weren't they? Kind of on the expendable side of the spectrum as far as the war went? I could be wrong. I could be wrong on the hard to find and left behind and if so I'll gladly say, DOH! My bad. lol and politely blame it on AH... lmao

| Senior Member | If the G503.com forum is any gauge, I'd say genuine GI flamethrowers are rare as hen's teeth and very valuable. Even parts for them are high as hell.

| Senior Member | I wouldn't . . . . . . if I were you as it is not something for the untrained to use and, in honesty, is dangerous for the trained to use. You are dealing with high volatility and high pressure. A leak in or bullet hole to the tanks can fry you. Also, you bring dramatic attention to yourself when using a flamethrower so everyone who can see your flame can shoot at you. Also, this is not a long range weapon (especially the back pack version). The Germans got this off the drawing board first as a trench attack weapon in WW1. The British quickly learned the point of origin for the flame was the target for every available rifle and machinegun. |

| Super Moderator ![]() | You wouldn't, But I want one...I live on the edge, a flamethrower is baby poop compared to the Explosives I've handled clearing land and blowing beaver houses and Blowing apart frozen rock and clay...but just so you don't think I'm Crazy, I want one for a Military display , but it has to be authentic as possible for it...and i want it to work in case I need a backfire to stop a forest fire in a hurry...I'm not crazy...or stupid for that matter. I'm prepared! Rich
